Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo has challenged Lionel Messi to leave Barcelona and sign for a club in Italy.

Portugal international Ronaldo joined Serie A champions Juventus from Real Madrid in a £99.2m deal in the summer.

Ronaldo and Argentina forward Messi, 31, have long been regarded as the world's best players, each winning five Ballon d'Or awards before Real Madrid's Luka Modric claimed this year's prize.

"I'd like him to come to Italy one day," said Ronaldo, 33.

"I hope he accepts the challenge like me, but if he's happy there then I respect that."

Ronaldo spent nine seasons at Real Madrid after arriving from Manchester United in 2009, with Messi having spent his whole career at La Liga rivals Barcelona.

Asked if he missed Messi during an interview with Italian press, Ronaldo added: "No, maybe it's him who misses me.

"I've played in England, Spain, Italy, Portugal and for my national team, while he's still in Spain.

"Maybe he needs me more. For me, life is a challenge, I like it and I like to make people happy.

"He's a fantastic player and a good guy, but I don't miss anything here. This is my new life and I'm happy.

"I left my comfort zone and took on this challenge here in Turin. Everything has gone well, I've proven I'm still an incredible player."

Manchester United interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says managers hold the power at clubs - and he is willing to use his "hairdryer" to enforce it.

The sixth-placed Red Devils visit Cardiff on Saturday in Solskjaer's first game as caretaker manager.

The 45-year-old has been heavily influenced by legendary United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, who used the "hairdryer treatment" when he felt his team were not meeting the standards he set.

"I've got a hairdryer," said Solskjaer.

"If I get disappointed, ask [children] Noah, Karna and Elijah - or some of the players I had at Molde. I am not afraid of laying down the law."

It has been suggested Solskjaer is too nice for the task of reversing United's declining fortunes.

While public condemnation of his players is unlikely, former team-mates have said the forward, who scored United's injury-time winner in the 1999 Champions League simpulan, was never afraid to deliver sharp words during his playing days if he felt standards were slipping.

"When your kids disappoint you, you don't give them chocolate do you? You treat players how you treat your kids. You want the best for them. You want to guide them. You want to help them," he said.

"He is a big part of my life," he said.

"I texted the gaffer when I got the call and I have been in touch with him quite a bit.

"At some point I am going to sit down at his house, enjoy a nice cup of tea, and discuss a few ideas."

'The manager has the power'
Solskjaer and assistant Mike Phelan were only involved with training for the first time on Thursday, but it is evident throughout United's Carrington pelatihan ground that spirits have been lifted since Mourinho's exit.

The question is whether the improvement in mood can be translated into results.

They have only won consecutive Premier League games twice, and encouraging results such as the draw at Chelsea and defeat of Juventus in Turin are far outweighed by the negatives, most recently the 3-1 defeat at Liverpool that marked the end of Mourinho's two and a half years in charge.

Some have suggested the blame lies with United's players rather than their former manager, and ex-captain Roy Keane told BBC Radio 5 live they had "got away with murder".

Now it is Solskjaer's job to enforce discipline, and he feels power within a dressing room still rests with the manager, not his players.

He said: "Football has evolved. The structure of a club has developed. But the power still rests with the manager. He picks the team. He decides the tactics and the strategy.

"I have told the players what standards we have, on and off the pitch.

"Being a Manchester United player is a privilege. I think all of them want to succeed here."

Gomes and Garner in the squad
Solskjaer has given all of United's players "a clean slate" as he prepares for his first match in charge.

But he is without striker Romelu Lukaku - ruled out after being given some time to return to Belgium, a decision taken before the new manager arrived - and forward Alexis Sanchez.

Angel Gomes, 18, and Jimmy Garner, 17, have both travelled, although it is not certain either will make United's tamat 18-man squad.

Andros Townsend smashed home a sublime 30-yard volley to help Palace cause the biggest shock of the campaign to date by claiming their first win at City for exactly 28 years and end the defending champions' 100% home record in the top flight this season.

"You get your work-rate as it should be, you get your shape and discipline as it should be, then you also score goals," said former England boss Hodgson.

"To score three goals away from home against a team of this quality says a lot... and makes you wonder where they have been until now.

"Today was one of those bonanza days."

Palace come from behind in spectacular win
City's form at Etihad Stadium this season - they had scored an average of three goals a game in nine successive league victories - had made it a fortress, but its walls came crumbling down in spectacular fashion.

The game appeared to be following a familiar script when Ilkay Gundogan ghosted into the box to head City into the lead from Fabian Delph's cross, but the events of the next eight minutes left the home fans in stunned silence.

City sent Kevin de Bruyne, so often a pahlawan of last season's procession to the title, into the rain to attempt a rescue mission but this was beyond even him.

The Belgian did reduce the deficit when his cross looped into the net, and Gabriel Jesus headed another of his deliveries over, but Palace held on for a deserved victory.

City lack usual guile
City were 13 points clear last Christmas on their march to the title but, if they are to retain it, they are going to have to do it the hard way.

We are not even at the halfway stage of this campaign so there is plenty of time for Guardiola's side to get back into their groove, and the title race is far from over, but their lack of guile and creativity here will be a concern.

It was not for the want of trying by Guardiola, who replaced two defenders with attacking players as he attempted to rescue this game in the second half.

But Aguero and De Bruyne were unable to come up with the inspiration required to break down Palace's massed defensive ranks until the Belgian's mis-hit cross gave his side hope five minutes from time. Ultimately, though, it was not nearly enough.

Palace plan works to perfection
Palace's past two visits to Etihad Stadium had ended in 5-0 defeats, but Hodgson said before the game he would not simply attempt to shut City out, and he was true to his word.

His side were immaculately organised in their 4-5-1 formation, dangerous on the counter-attack and helped by two outstanding strikes, but the reason Hodgson's plan worked to perfection was the industry of all of his players.

Whenever City had the ball - they had 78% of possession - they were allowed little space once they advanced into the Palace half.

City's usual precision passing failed to find any gaps and the home side were reduced to firing in hopeful crosses - 30 from open play alone - in a vain bid to open the visitors up.

There had been murmurs of discontent from the Palace fans following their side's poor form that had seen them slip towards the fringes of the relegation battle in recent weeks.

But there was nothing but acclaim for Hodgson and his players at the simpulan whistle on Saturday, as they joined their travelling supporters to celebrate a famous victory.

Manchester City have lost two of their past three Premier League games - as many as in their previous 61 combined.

This was City's first home league defeat against a non-big-six side since February 2016, when they lost 3-1 to Leicester City.
Townsend has scored 17 Premier League goals - 10 from outside the box.

City lost a Premier League match kicking off at 3pm on a Saturday for the first time since August 2014 against Stoke, ending a run of 36 games unbeaten.

Palace found the net with each of their three shots on sasaran in the game.

Since his Premier League debut, Milivojevic has scored 13 penalties - five more than any other player in that time.

What next?

Both teams are in action at 15:00 GMT on 26 December, with Palace hosting Cardiff, and Manchester City travelling to Leicester, the scene of their penalty shootout win in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.

Manchester United can still qualify for the Champions League after winning in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first game in charge, says left-back Luke Shaw.

United won 5-1 at Cardiff in the first match since sacking Jose Mourinho and putting their former striker Solskjaer in interim charge.

They are sixth in the Premier League, eight points behind Chelsea in fourth.

"Of course we want the top four; we want to be playing in the Champions League next season," Shaw said.

"I don't see why we can't if we keep playing like that."

United are in this season's Champions League and face Paris St-Germain in the last 16.

Shaw played the full game against Cardiff, having been dropped for Mourinho's akhir three Premier League games in charge.

The England defender was one of several United players to fall out with the Portuguese during his two and a half years in charge.

"People might be quick to forget what Jose did for United - the three trophies he won - he did a lot," said Shaw, referring to the fact that Mourinho won the Community Shield, Europa League and FA Cup in his first season, 2016-17.

"One of the trophies [Europa League] was one we had not won before, and he took us to three trophies in one season. So those people need to respect him and remember what he did."

Former Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe has finally been handed a League Cup winners' medal - 10 years after helping Spurs reach the selesai.

Defoe appeared in five ties but then moved to Portsmouth one month before Spurs beat Chelsea in the 2008 selesai.

The EFL acted and presented Defoe, 36, with a medal after learning he had not received a memento for his part.

"It's a nice feeling to have been a part of the history of that club," Defoe, now at Bournemouth, said.

The Englishman, who has 57 caps for his country, added: "I remember contributing to help the boys get to that stage and after that it was actually nice to sit back and watch the lads go on to lift the trophy.

"At the end of the day, they're all your friends and you still want them to win, to get your medal!"

Menurut Sportsmail, hampir 20 pemain mendakwa mereka dibuili secara mulut oleh Gatting dan Laraman.

David Ospina telah mendedahkan bahawa pemain Arsenal telah menciptakan kejutan untuk Arsene Wenger, yang akan menjalani perlawanan terakhirnya dengan Gunners pada Ahad (13/5).

Pemain Perancis itu akan turun sebagai pengurus Arsenal selepas perlawanan terakhir pasukan ekspresi dominan ini, menentang Huddersfield Town.

Apabila ditanya sama ada pemain memiliki rancangan untuk Wenger di bilik persalinan, Ospina menjawab: "Ini satu kejutan. Kita akan lihat apa yang berlaku dalam kes itu. Perkara yang paling penting adalah membantunya menamatkan kerjayanya di sini dengan kemenangan di Huddersfield.

"Ia sangat mengagumkan untuk memberikannya kemenangan terakhir untuk perlawanan terakhirnya. Kami akan menawarkan segala-galanya di lapangan, untuk memastikan beliau berlaku. Kemudian, kita akan melihat apa yang berlaku.

"Saya hanya dapat membayangkan apa yang ada di fikirannya, kerana ia berada di kelab jago selama 22 tahun yang kemudian. Inilah kelab di mana beliau diberikan segala-galanya, untuk memastikan kemajuan Arsenal sebagai kelab bola sepak. Oleh itu saya yakin akan ada banyak emosi untuk permainan terakhirnya.

"Tetapi saya harap kami boleh memberi ia sesuatu yang boleh dibanggakan dalam perlawanan terakhirnya, dan membantu beliau pergi dengan kemenangan," kata penjaga gol itu.

Liverpool trend ini bermain dengan sangat baik sejak kedatangan Mohamed Salah dan Jurgen Klopp, kedatangan Klopp memperlihatkan berbagai perubahan yang sangat terasa bagi Liverpool, berkat dirinya sekarang trio Liverpool semakin membahayakan, bahkan banyak kelab besar yag dibuat mainan oleh barisan depan Liverpool.
