Pep Guardiola says Manchester City have learned "to never give up" after returning to the top of the table for the first time since 16 December with a win at Everton.

A week ago City were five points adrift of Liverpool but took full advantage after Jurgen Klopp's side could only manage back-to-back draws, moving ahead of the Reds on goal difference albeit having played one game more.

"A few days ago we could have been seven points behind. Now we are top of the league. That is the best advice, the lesson is never give up," said Guardiola.

"That is a lesson for all athletes. Try to win the games, because life can change immediately."

Defender Aymeric Laporte met David Silva's free-kick to head home his fourth goal of the season, putting City in front just before half-time.

Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling both spurned decent opportunities to extend City's lead after the break before Gabriel Jesus sealed victory in stoppage time.

It was far from a vintage display by City, who instead had to show their battling qualities to secure the points and regain the initiative in the title race.

Attention will now switch back to Liverpool, who can return to the summit with victory against Bournemouth on Saturday, 24 hours before City host Chelsea at Etihad Stadium.

Everton stay ninth after suffering a fourth defeat in five Premier League games at Goodison Park, though they should take some encouragement from a resilient display that was a notable improvement on their performances in recent weeks.

Advantage City as title race takes latest twist
Just seven days ago, Manchester City faced the prospect of falling seven points behind leaders Liverpool after slipping to a fourth Premier League defeat of the season against Newcastle the previous evening.

Klopp's side missed that opportunity after drawing with Leicester, and a further draw at West Ham on Monday opened the door for City to return to the top for the first time in almost seven weeks.

Guardiola's side appeared determined to make an impression at Goodison Park, creating three good chances in the opening 20 minutes, with Leroy Sane and Laporte going close before Ilkay Gundogan hit the kafe.

City faded after that bright opening but made the breakthrough as half-time approached. David Silva's free-kick from the left-hand side of the penalty area was headed in by the unmarked Laporte for his first Premier League goal since August.

Aguero and Sterling missed further chances after the break to ensure a nervy finish, though Everton, despite all their effort, failed to truly test Ederson in the Manchester City goal.

Victory was sealed seconds from full-time - Jesus heading home at the second attempt after Jordan Pickford had done well to block his initial shot.

The result puts further pressure on Liverpool who, after a near-flawless campaign so far, have started to show signs of fallibility in recent weeks as they chase a first league title for 29 years.

Three successive league victories have also pushed Tottenham back in contention. Mauricio Pochettino's side are just five points behind the top two and still have to visit Anfield and Etihad Stadium before the end of the season.

Tonight's win means City have the initiative, but the dramatic change in fortunes over the past week suggests this is just the latest twist in an increasingly unpredictable title race.

Everton restore pride - but familiar failings let them down
Everton fans will have been aware that a win at Goodison Park would have been a huge favour to neighbours Liverpool.

But there were no signs of divided loyalties at kick-off with the home crowd fully behind their side, and they are likely to be encouraged by a hard-working performance, even if it ultimately resulted in another defeat.

Manager Marco Silva sprang a surprise by making five changes to his team as he looked for a response to Saturday's defeat by Wolves.

These included dropping top scorers Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson to the bench and switching to a 4-3-3 formation.

He was rewarded with a more spirited display, with the returning Idrissa Gueye bringing some much needed energy back into the Everton midfield.

However, familiar failings cost the Toffees before the break.

Everton had conceded 18 goals from set-pieces in all competitions this season, more than any other Premier League side. And that soon became 19 when Laporte was left completely unmarked to meet David Silva's free-kick and nod the champions in front on the stroke of half-time.

Silva brought on Richarlison, Sigurdsson and Cenk Tosun in an attempt to get back into the game, but their only shot on sasaran was a long-range effort from Gueye that was comfortably held by Ederson.

The result means a tally of nine defeats in 15 games in all competitions for Silva's side - an alarming slump in form after starting December in the top six.

Since their defeat at Liverpool on 2 December, the Toffees have collected just 11 points - only the Premier League's bottom two, Huddersfield Town and Fulham, have earned fewer.

There were signs of improvement against the champions, but Silva knows he needs to turn performances into points quickly if Everton's season is not to peter out completely before the clocks go forward.

"You have to respect every team. Be aggressive at set-pieces. We were in the zone we must be in, we moved a little bit, it was a good delivery and header but we have to challenge. I have to speak with my players about this, it is not normal.

"I cannot understand why we must play tonight, it is very tough for us."

12 Tahun Hilang Kontak dan Sudah Dikira Meninggal, PMI Indramayu Ditemukan oleh KBRI. Begini Kondisinya...

Ramini binti Warji, seorang Pekerja Migran Indonesia (PMI) Asal Indramayu, Jawa Barat, oleh keluarganya sudah dinyatakan meninggal dunia, alasannya adalah selama 12 tahun hilang kontak dan tidak diketahui keberadaannya dikala bekerja di Yordania.

Hal tersebut disampaikan, ketua Serikat Buruh Migran Indonesia (SBMI) Cabang Indramayu, Juwarih kepada LiputanBMI, pada Kamis 26 Desember 2018.

"Sebelum aku menginformasikan bahwa Ramini sudah ditemukan oleh pihak KBRI Yordania, awalnya keluarga menganggap bahwa PMI tersebut sudah meninggal dunia sebab 12 tahun tidak diketahui keberadaannya," ucap Juwarih.

Juwarih menyampaikan Ramini merupakan PMI warga Blok Plumbon, RT 006/001, Desa Sukagumiwang, Kecamatan Sukagumiwang, Kabupaten Indramayu, Jawa Barat yang bekerja di Yordania sejak tahun 2006.

Kata Juwarih, ketika menemui keluarganya Ramini di Sukagumiwang, Indramayu, awalnya keluarga menganggap yang bersangkutan sudah meninggal dunia.

"Kata Kusnadi, adik kandung PMI menceritakan bahwa ibunya sebelum meninggal pernah bermimpi bertemu dengan kakaknya, sehingga keluarga beranggapan jika Ramini sudah meninggal dunia," kata ketua SBMI Indramayu.

Terpisah, Atase Ketenagakerjaan KBRI Yordania, Suseno Hadi, dikala dikonfirmasi LiputanBMI mengatakan, pada 17 Desember 2018 majikan Ramini tiba ke kedutaan untuk mengurus perpanjangan dokumennya PMI.

Namun oleh pihak KBRI menyampaikan ke majikan, semoga Ramini dipulangkan cuti terlebih dahulu mengingat yang bersangkutan sudah usang tidak pulang.

"Majikannya yang tiba ke KBRI, kami menyampaikan agar Ramini cuti dulu, karena yang bersangkutan
sudah tiga kali ganti majikan, dan alhamdulillah majikannya koperatif," terang Suseno.

Sementara itu, Kusnadi dan saudara yang lainnya merasa senang sehabis dapat kabar dari ketua SBMI Indramayu yang menginformasikan bahwa kakanya telah ditemukan dan sekarang sedang berada di Shelter KBRI Yordania untuk menunggu proses kepulangannya ke kampung halaman.

"Alhamdulillah ternyata abang aku masih hidup, aku senang sekali mampu kabar ini," ujar Kusnadi.

Dalam kesempatan ini pula, Kusnadi mengucapkan terima kasih kepada pihak-pihak yang telah menemukan dan menginformasikan wacana eksistensi kakaknya saat ini.

"Kami ucapkan terima kasih kepada pihak KBRI Yordania yang sudah membantu menemukan dan memproses kepulangan abang aku," ucap Kusnadi.

Selain mengucapkan terima kasih kepada pihak KBRI Yordania, Kusnadi pun memberi ucapan terima kasih kepada Ono Surono, Anggota dewan perwakilan rakyat RI Komisi IV dari Dapil VIII Jabar yang sudah meluangkan waktunya untuk bertemu secara langsung dengan Ramini dan beberapa PMI bermasalah di Shelter KBRI di Amman, saat kunjungan kerja Tim Badan Kerja Sama Antar Parlemen ke Yordania pada 18 Desember 2018 yang lalu.

Pep Guardiola says Raheem Sterling is a more mature and less "scared" player than the one he inherited when he first took over as Manchester City boss.

Sterling scored two goals and made two more in Sunday's 6-1 win over Southampton - a result that returned City to the top of the Premier League.

He has scored six times in nine games in 2018-19, having scored 10 in his first season under Guardiola (2016-17).

Asked what had changed in the England forward, Guardiola replied: "His head."

The Spaniard added: "The first season, he was scared. He was looking, who is the guy I am going to pass the ball to?

"We spoke about that and said: 'Try to score goals. Now you have the feeling, where is the goal and go over there.'

"I have the feeling he is now enjoying scoring goals and making assists. He is becoming a winning player. He is stable and is focused on what he has to do to become a better player.

"He is more mature now than he was when we first met at the club. He belieGuardiola was asked if Sterling can now be considered amongst the world's best players, but replied that the England international still has work to do to be ranked as such.

However, Sterling's first goal just before half-time set the hosts up for a comfortable second half in which they scored two more - another from Sterling and a Leroy Sane strike.

The win means they hold a two-point lead at the top of the table on 29 points, with Liverpool and Chelsea, who beat Crystal Palace on Sunday, both on 27.

Guardiola was pleased with his side's attacking display but critical of their defensive work - an aspect he feels they need to improve for when they face better opposition.

"We were lucky to score the fourth goal at the last minute of the first half because I had the feeling the game was not over," added Guardiola.

"We played with the ball so good but not without the ball.

"The teams showed me some signals that in some positions we are not stable enough.

"We can improve and that is good. I like to have that feeling that we won 6-1 and are top, but at the same time we have to improve in many situations to be a more stable team.

"When you concede those situations in the next stage of Champions League you are out because the level is higher."

City's next game is in the Champions League, at home to Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday, before they host local rivals United in the Manchester derby.

Satu gol timnas U-22 Indonesia dicetak oleh Hanif Sjahbandi, yang juga pemain Arema FC, pada menit ke-73.

Kemudian, Arema FC membalas melalui striker Robert 'Gladiator' Lima Guimaraes (85').

Arema FC mampu menguasai jalannya pertandingan babak pertama melawan timnas U-22 Indonesia.

Namun, serangkaian peluang yang dimiliki Arema masih belum mampu mengoyak jala timnas U-22 Indonesia.

Begitu pula dengan upaya serangan dari timnas U-22 Indonesia yang acap kali terhenti di lini tengah.

Skor 0-0 pun menutup jalannya pertandingan pada babak pertama.

Pada babak kedua, instruktur timnas U-22 Indonesia, Indra Sjafri, melakukan perombakan dengan memasukkan empat nama sekaligus.

Para pemain itu yaitu Hanif Sjahbandi, kiper Nadeo Argawinata, Rifal Lastori, dan Dimas Drajad.

Sedangkan Arema memasukkan Sunarto dan kiper Kartika Ajie untuk menggantikan Nasir serta Utam Rusdiana.

Tak kunjung mendapatkan peluang matang, Indra Sjafri kembali melakukan pergantian pemain dengan memasukkan Firza Andika, Muhammad Rafli, dan Todd Rivaldo Ferre.

Arema sebetulnya mampu menceploskan bola ke gawang timnas U-22 Indonesia pada menit ke-69.

Sayang, gol sundulan Hamka Hamzah dianulir oleh wasit karena sebelumnya terjadi pelanggaran.

Substitute Romelu Lukaku scored with his first touch as Manchester United beat Newcastle United with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer becoming the second manager in the club's history to win his first four league games in charge.

The Norwegian emulates the feat of Sir Matt Busby in 1946.

Lukaku, who had only been on the pitch 38 seconds, pounced on an error by Martin Dubravka with the Slovakia keeper spilling a free-kick by Marcus Rashford.

Rashford doubled the lead after a sweeping move involving Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez as Newcastle lost for the eighth time at home in the league this season.

Christian Atsu caused the opposition defence untold problems in the first half but was let down by his finishing.

Benitez's side are two points above the relegation zone, with three of their next four league games away to Chelsea on 12 January, home to Manchester City on 29 January and away at Tottenham on 2 February.

"Newcastle could be in a relegation battle come the end of the season and if they can finish fourth from bottom, I'll be delighted with that," said former Newcastle striker Alan Shearer, who was at the game for BBC Radio 5 live.

Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez: "We made a mistake for the first goal and then conceded on the counter-attack which happens when you play good players. They punish you.

"We had chances in the first half, you lose 2-0 but we deserved more. If you analyse how we concede it's not clear chances. It's mistakes.

"The selesai third is the key and that's where you pay big money for players who can make the difference."

Manchester United caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: "You'd be happy with four wins from four - we haven't conceded from open play yet either.

"We were slow in the first half but we controlled the game well, we concentrated and overall it was a very professional performance.

"In a five-minute spell we gave them two or three chances but then we settled down again.

"Marcus Rashford has the Cristiano hit, it swerves everywhere, but I liked his goal today. He calmed himself down, just passed it in. Well done.

"He is only 21, you have to remember that. You need to rattle Paul Pogba at times to get him going, he has been immense for us."

Aaron Ramsey is a footballer who divides opinion like few others.

Revered by Wales fans but regarded as an unfulfilled talent by some Arsenal supporters, with Ramsey the truth usually sits somewhere in between the polarising views.

A number of Europe's leading clubs appear to share the Welsh outlook, as Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Paris St-Germain and Inter Milan had all shown an interest in the midfielder, whose contract at Emirates Stadium expires in the summer.

But it is Italian giants Juventus who have won the battle to sign the 28-year-old - with the help of a contract worth £400,000 a week - and Ramsey now stands on the cusp of his career's defining moment.

So why would Arsenal allow such a coveted player to leave for free?

And why has Ramsey, who has been in and out of the Gunners' side this season, attracted interest from some of the biggest clubs in the world?

By most players' standards, Ramsey has enjoyed an excellent career at Arsenal since joining from Cardiff City as a 17-year-old in 2008.

Yet despite scoring 61 goals in 359 games - including the winners in the 2014 and 2017 FA Cup finals - there is a sense that the Welshman has never truly won over certain factions of the Arsenal support.

That may be borne out of frustration, a feeling that Ramsey has not consistently scaled the heights which saw him named in the Euro 2016 team of the tournament after playing a stellar role in Wales' run to the semi-finals.

So, has he been fully appreciated at Arsenal?

"Maybe not," former Arsenal striker Ian Wright told BBC Radio 5 live.

"He's one of those players who no matter how poorly Arsenal were playing he never hid, always showed for the ball.

"He got loads of stick but continually tried to play and in the way he wants to play football. We are losing a great player and it's a shame."

Ramsey has not been at his sparkling best this season, though that is largely due to a lack of game-time caused by his contract dispute with Arsenal and subsequent inability to secure a regular starting place in the team.

Even before this season's doubts about his future, however, Ramsey has been criticised by Arsenal fans at matches and on social media.

"They've never fully taken to Rambo - there's always been a section of fans," says Ramsey's former Wales team-mate Danny Gabbidon.

Gabbidon's view is representative of many in Wales, who have taken umbrage at the criticism Ramsey has faced at Arsenal, be that from fan websites or celebrity supporters.

His detractors may point to a lack of consistency - he is as likely to dominate and transform a game as he is to pass through 90 minutes almost unnoticed.

There are times when he has been anonymous for Wales but his supporters there hold a more sympathetic view, that a fluctuation in form is a hazard of the job for a playmaker.

Another former Wales international, Iwan Roberts, believes that to be the case - and that Arsenal will come to regret their treatment of Ramsey.

"They haven't appreciated him from the first day he walked through the door," he said.

"We [in Wales] would rather see him go to Juventus. He could do with a fresh start."

Is Juventus the right move?
Juventus will make Ramsey the highest paid British player of all time with a basic salary of just over £400,000 a week and, like Gabbidon, Roberts thinks the midfielder will suit the more patient playing style of Serie A.

The man who gave Ramsey his Wales debut back in 2008, John Toshack, also believes Ramsey could be revitalised by the change of scenery.

Toshack has managed several foreign clubs - including two spells in charge of Real Madrid - and the former Liverpool striker hopes Ramsey will embrace all aspects of his move to Italy.

"There's a great deal to be gained by going abroad and seeing how other people live, not just the football, the culture side of it, everything," he told BBC Sport Wales.

"It makes you a better person overall and Ramsey now is at an age where he should be ready to cope with these things.

"Juventus is a big club, they're expected to win things, Champions League, and everything.

"He should really have a fantastic three, four maybe five years ahead of him, and, hopefully, the Welsh national team will benefit by that as well and it won't be easy adapting."

If it can seem that the Welsh footballing community is protective of Ramsey, then it may well be because it is.

He is a treasured rarity in Wales, a country which has seldom produced a player of such creativity and guile during its history.

Why are Juve and Europe's top clubs so keen?
The breakdown in negotiations between Ramsey and Arsenal soon caught the attention of Europe's leading clubs.

It meant he could join any club for free at the end of this season, and he could sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign side from January onwards.

Financially, adding Ramsey to that list makes perfect sense for Juve, who spent the majority of their transfer budget on the statement signing of Cristiano Ronaldo last summer.

And according to those who have followed Ramsey's career, the playmaker would be an ideal fit for them in a footballing sense as well.

"If you look at Juventus and the make-up of their midfield, he will bring something that they don't have," says Gabbidon.

"They have Emre Can, Sami Khedira, Miralem Pjanic, Blaise Matuidi - none of those are players who get in the box and have that goalscoring threat, so I'm sure that's why Juve have identified him.

"Juve are dominant so if he goes there he's going to be winning league titles, but Serie A is becoming more competitive with Napoli and Inter Milan competing again."

Tidak Puas

Menurut pandangan Strachan, De Gea sendiri membutuhkan trofi untuk menegaskan statusnya sebagai kiper terbaik di dunia, dan dia tidak mampu menerima itu di United.

"Saya pikir apa yang beliau butuhkan ketika ini yakni kepuasan dalam bekerja dan sebagai seorang penjaga gawang, dia masih memiliki sekitar 10 tahun lagi dalam karirnya."

"Saya pikir ia sangat ingin pergi ke klub-klub top yang memenangkan banyak gelar. Ia ingin memenangkan Liga Champions, ingin memenangkan trofi domestik dan Liga dan saya rasa itulah yang dia incar."


Kering Prestasi

Strachan percaya jikalau United tidak kunjung memenangkan gelar juara, maka De Gea sudah semakin bersahabat dengan pintu keluar Old Trafford.

"Saya pikir mengapa De Gea ingin pergi dari United karena klub ini sudah tidak berada di jajaran atas klub-klub top Eropa ketika ini."

"Mereka memang salah satu klub top, namun mereka tidak termasuk dalam tim-tim berbaik ketika ini. Ketika ia kembali ke Timnas Spanyol, rekan-rekannya di Real Madrid memenangkan akhir Liga Champions, sementara sobat-temannya di Barcelona memenangkan Liga, dan ia sendiri tidak memenangkan liga lagi." tandasnya.


Opsi Darurat

Manchester United sendiri masih memiliki opsi perpanjangan kontrak otomatis selama satu tahun yang akan menahan De Gea di Old Trafford hignga tahun 2020.
